Christmas Bird Count

Grants Pass Circle

Saturday, December 16

Volunteers are needed for the Grants Pass Christmas Bird Count, the 34th sponsored by Siskiyou Audubon Society, and the 118th National Audubon CBC. Local birders will be “in the field” from dawn to dusk (or as per each Section leader), as we take part in the biggest citizen science effort in the Americas. The Grants Pass Circle, centered at the entrance to the Josephine County Fairgrounds, is divided into eleven segments, each of which is counted by a team. Sign up with Compiler Margaret James at the Christmas Potluck, or by email to mcddjames@yahoo.com, or phone 541-476-8126. The “countdown” gathering will follow at 5 p.m. at Elmer’s Restaurant on the Parkway in east Grants Pass, where count data will be delivered to the Compiler and we’ll share the fellowship of a day of birding with a purpose
