SUMMARY:Chapter Meeting--Program: "Spotted vs. Barred Owls" by Zia Fukuda
DESCRIPTION:Zia Fukuda is a wildlife biologist working locally for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). She will cover some of the background on the Northern Spotted Owl\, with a focus on the newest threat to them — the arrival of the Barred Owl to the Pacific Northwest. She will also talk about some of the field work she does and will touch base on the current barred owl removal plan. Although she doesn’t know the ins and outs of the plan\, she can speak broadly to it. Zia is a member of Audubon\, skilled in bird identification and an excellent photographer. \nThe meeting will begin with a half hour of social time–including refreshments and a free raffle for a door prize. The program will immediately follow at approximately 6:30 pm.

SUMMARY:3rd Tuesday Bird Walk at Reinhart Volunteer Park
DESCRIPTION:Birdwatchers\, join us for the regular monthly bird walk in Reinhart Volunteer Park\, Grants Pass. Meet a 9 a.m. in the big parking lot next to the Agnew-Lyttle Baseball Field. We walk from there down to the Rogue River\, using the paved path and rambling into the grassy areas closer to the River. We work our way upstream to the pedestrian bridge\, then go over the pond bridge as we return to our cars. The walk is about a mile\, suitable for off-road walking. \nDress for the weather and bring your binoculars and maybe water and a snack. If you don’t have binoculars\, we have some to loan.
