SUMMARY:Chapter Meeting - Program: "Great Gray Owls - What They Are & How to Find Them" by Harry Fuller
DESCRIPTION:Great Gray Owls are one of the most mysterious and sought-after bird residents of California\, Oregon and Washington. It is the tallest owl in North America\, and notoriously approachable by humans\, but finding it intentionally isn’t easy due to its nocturnal habits\, excellent camouflage and silent flight. \nHarry Fuller is the author of four natural history books. Besides his illustrated book on Great Gray Owls\, he has authored Freeway Birding\, San Francisco to Seattle\, and San Francisco’s Natural History — Sand Dune to Streetcars. His most recent book is Birding Harney County. It is the largest county in Oregon and includes Malheur NWR\, Alvord Desert and Steens Mountain. \nHarry is pictured here next to the late\, great Shadow\, who lived at Lindsay Museum in Walnut Creek\, CA. Shadow was a fine ornithology instructor in California class rooms.
