Siskiyou Audubon Field Trip to Golden – Coyote Wetlands

April 5 @ 10:00 am12:00 pm

Join Siskiyou Audubon Society leaders in a visit to the Golden-Coyote Wetlands! We will meet at 10:00 am at the ghost town of Golden and walk down the trail into the wetlands below. Along the way, we will look for birds and other wildlife as we assess the habitat.

Twenty-some years ago, SAS joined with Lichen Cooperative and other Wolf Creek friends to reclaim wetlands destroyed by 1880s gold miners. A native creek was recovered and native plants restored. Interest in the area has waned in recent years, however, the wetlands belong to the State of Oregon Parks. Its Ranger also oversees the Wolf Creek Inn, on the west side of highway I-5. For more information about Golden visit the State of Oregon Parks.

Directions: Take I-5 north to Wolf Creek exit 76. At the bottom of the off-ramp, turn RIGHT and drive 3.6 miles up Coyote Creek Road to the ghost town of Golden.
