Chapter Meeting: Program: “Uganda Safari: Gorillas, Shoebills, and Chimps, Oh My!” by Pepper Trail

Join Pepper Trail for a slide show of his recent trip experiencing the wildlife wonders of Uganda. His primary goals were to see mountain gorillas and the amazing Shoebill Stork, which were unforgettable. But, he also had memorable encounters with elephants, chimpanzees, rhinos, and over 200 species of birds–as well as fantastic scenery. It’s a November safari!
Pepper Trail is well-known in southrn Oregon as a naturalist and writer. He was the ornithologist at the National Fish and Wildlife Forensic Laboratory for over 20 years, until his retirement in 2021. he is the longtime conservation co-chair of Rogue Valley Audubon Society, and has been active in many regional environmental efforts, particularly the establishment and expansion of the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument. When not pursuing birds, wildflowers, and bumble bees in southrn Oregon, he leads natural history expeditions around the world.
Our meetings are open to the public. Please join us for social time from 6:00-6:30 p.m. to talk birds and catch-up with friends new and old. A brief chapter meeting follows social time and the program will begin around 6:45 p.m. Door prizes are awarded and refreshments are served.
